Before we left for China DH and I discussed enjoying Chinese culture and food. We both decided to immerse ourselves, as much as possible, in the atmosphere, culture and eat the regional food. However, after some very challenging days with Skylar and Faith's sad face my mind was changed. After seeing my dear princess light up at the sight of a McDonald's sign, who could resist?
When we entered the McDs in Shenyang we received a very friendly greeting that included free mini-ice cream cones! Who could resist? Faith gobbled hers down, but Skylar didn't want his, so DH and I shared it. You know, vanilla ice cream never tasted so good. Skylar and Faith had "Happy Meals". You only have to see the pictures to know how much they enjoyed this meal. :)
Our meal was hastened when Skylar began to gravitate towards some elderly Chinese women and gave signals of a melt down. But, by this time dear Faith had her "Happy Meal" and had toy in hand. All worth the taxi ride, and walk back. :)
We felt exactly the same way - no junk like that - but we too ended up there! We also found a Pizza Hut - and I have to say that Chinese Pizza is nothing like US - it's worth a visit. There was one close to the Garden Hotel in GZ - and eating in the hotel room was sometimes way easier in regard to meltdowns!
