Just a Little Water

We are hundreds and hundreds of miles away from where Hurricane Alex made landfall yesterday. We received a little storm surge, rain and wind. It is really amazing to watch the storms and to imagine what it must have been like when Hurricane Ike made landfall here in 2008. We are at 10'9" elevation above sea level, and we had 3 feet of storm surge into our home with Hurricane Ike on 9/13/08.

In the pictures below you can see the little bit of storm surge we received from Alex. It can't be seen in these pictures, but our home is 10'9" above the level of our bulkhead and boat dock.

Compare this photo to the one on the lower right hand side of our blog. 

This time we weren't directly hit. Our prayers go out to those who suffered flooding and loss from Hurricane Alex.

Still praying for an exact travel date to China.
